Update SKY-7223D MB XL710 LAN NVM from version 7.20 to 8.30

Attention Please

1. Please upgrade system's i40e Driver to latest version(ex: i40e 2.17.4) before execute nvmupdate command

Purpose

Release NVM update package for SKY-7223DMB XL710 LAN  target version from 7.20 to 8.30.

Target Audience

Everyone who needs to update SKY-7223D MB XL710 from 7.20 to 8.30.

Minimum requirement

  1. The package in this FAQ supports upgrade from 7.20 to 8.30 only. 
  2. Linux based OS
  3. i40e driver up to 2.17.4 or above (see driver requirement)

Steps
      1. Download SKY-7223D_MB_XL710.tgz from attachment
      2. Check current nvm version from one of Ethernet device of SKY-7223D MB XL710 (bafp0 as an example)

3.  NVM update from 7.20 to 8.30

3.1 Get in unzipped folder and run following command to execute update process. 

You should understand which device is available to be updated 

"-l sky-7223mb_xl710.log" specifies the log file for recording output from the nvmupdate utility, if NMC can't success to update NVM file, please forward this log file to Advantech FAE

# chmod +x nvmupdate64
# ./nvmupdate64e -l sky-7223mb_xl710.log

3.2 Wait few minutes for completing the upgrade process, you will find “All operations completed successfully” shown on screen after it completed, and follow the message to exit the utility.  

3.3 Power OFF and ON to apply the changes. 

3.4 Check nvm version from one of Ethernet device of SKY-7223D MB　XL710 (bafp0 as an example) 

# ethtool -i bafp0

4. Check VPD info from Advantech network device  (Assume device SKY-7223D MB XL710 on bus af:00.0)

Check SVID: 13FE  with the command.
