Prevent to mix single rank DIMMs and dual rank DIMMs.

Purpose:

Populate DIMMs in this kind configuration is always not recommended. That could cause system performance issue or fail to boot. 

Target Audience:

• To whom has Advantech x86 platforms, such as SKY series, FWA series, MIC series.
• To whom has authorized to do DIMM population.
• To whom has checked DIMM specification matching to platforms accordingly.

How to prevent this happens?

Make sure all DIMM are in the same model.

How to check rank of DIMMs?

1. Check datasheet of DIMMs from vendor.
2. Some of vendor would print this information on labels, such as the picture below. 1R indicates the single rank DIMM, 2R indicates the dual rank DIMM.
