Build Microsemi Adaptec Series 8 RAID using UEFI mode on SKY-8101

Purpose

This guide took SKY-8101 series for example to show how to build RAID on Microsemi Adaptec Series 8 RAID card using UEFI mode. 

You could also refer this doc for any other platforms which insert Microsemi Adaptec Series 8 RAID card. 

Prerequisite

Hardware: Advantech SKY-8101

BIOS version : V1.00 or above 

Steps

> Load BIOS default if necessary

• Save & Exit -> Reload BIOS default -> Load Optimized Default? -> Yes

• Save & Exit -> Save Changes and Exit -> Save configuration and reset? -> Yes

• The server will reboot and please press "DEL" or "F2" to enter the BIOS setup menu

> Create RAID on Microsemi Adaptec Series 8 RAID card using UEFI mode

• Press "DEL" or "F2" to enter the BIOS setup menu

• Post & Boot -> CSM Parameters -> Confirm the Storage is in UEFI mode

• Hardware -> PMC maxView Storage Manager -> Scan For Controllers -> Controller #0 ASR8405 -> Logical Device Configuration

• Initialize Drives -> Enabled Hard Disk -> SUBMIT 

• SUBMIT -> Press [ESC] to go back

• Create Array -> Enabled Hard Disk  -> PROCEED 

• Array type [RAID 0/1] -> PROCEED     

• SUBMIT 

• SUBMIT -> Press [ESC] to go back

• Post & Boot -> CSM Parameters -> Confirm the Storage is in Legacy mode

• Save & Exit -> Save Changes and Exit -> Save configuration and reset? -> Yes

• The server will reboot and please press "DEL" or "F2" to enter the BIOS setup menu

> Go to BIOS menu and check the boot device

• Press "DEL" or "F2" to enter the BIOS setup menu

• Post & Boot -> Hard Drive BBS Priorities -> Boot Option #1

• Save & Exit -> Save Changes and Exit -> Save configuration and reset? -> Yes

• The server will reboot
