Is NMC-6002/6003 compatible with FWA-6170?

Purpose

This FAQ introduces how the double-width NMC modules (e.g. NMC-6002 or NMC-6003) can be installed on 2U appliance FWA-6170 series. In addition, because of the slot mapping, the installation for such double-width NMC modules should follow the instructions to meet proper PCIe root ports.

User who needs to apply NMC-6002/6003 on FWA-6170 series appliance.

Minimum requirement

1. Double-width NMC device
2. Platforms which support 2 NMC slots (double width)

Explanation & Installation rule

Yes, these NMC models are compatible with system FWA-6170, it's validated on FWA-6170 as well.

Please note that NMC-6002FD/6003 is PCIE x16 module and will occupy 2 NMC slots.

On FWA-6170, install NMC-6002/6003 in NMC1&2, NMC3&4, NMC5&6, NMC7&8 group slots is required, otherwise the NMC may NOT work properly.
