Purpose:
Collecting logs for troubleshooting may be challenging sometimes, mostly when the OS is not accessible anymore. This article instructs how to retrieve logs on BMC platforms via IOL (Internet Over LAN).
Audience:
Users with Linux basic knowledge owing a BMC platform.
Prerequisites:
1- Linux OS
2- The script file export_sys_log_with_bmc_via_IOL_v3.2.sh
3- BMC and LAN must be alive
Steps:
1- Download the script file mentioned in the Prerequisites.
2- Assign an valid IP address to BMC
3- Plug cables to NC-SI available LAN ports
4- Run the script as per below:
[root@WisePass home]# ./export_sys_log_with_bmc_via_IOL_v3.2.sh
Notes:
*You should manually type BMC's IP address, username and password, shown as picture above.
*Advantech BMC description and settings could be found from user manual for NCG products, as attached file MIC-6330_User_Manual_ed.2-FINAL.pdf chapter 3
*After complete IOL fundamental settings, the script would show up a dialog for you typing the IP address of the target BMC, that must be correct.
