The "ethtool -p" identification command is not supported on NMC-4001/4005/4006/4007/1008

Purpose:

It lists NMC module LED identify  for customer reference,

• Linux command troubleshooting experience

Content:

If customer key in following command to identify network port sequence of NMC-4001/4005/4007/ 4006/1008 NMC module, but NMC module’s LED is not blinking after key-in command

# ethtool -p eth10

Root cause analysis:

1. According to Intel's explanation, the "ethtool -p" command exclusively enables the speed LED on the network device.
2. Please refer following picture, These NMC modules only design the Link LED in NMC front panel, and  these don’t have speed LED.

 

It means “ethtool -p” command doesn’t help user to identify network port sequence of these NMC module.
