How to upgrade FWA-3260 BMC Firmware

Purpose:

This article aims to share FWA-3260 BMC FW upgrade methods for customer reference, 

Target Audience:

For Advantech TSE, RBU AE, outsourcing service engineer(s) and End customer with the following knowledges  :

• Linux troubleshooting experience

Content:

1.Please refer following table to upgrade FWA-3260 BMC Firmware. and Suggesting use uses IPMI IOL to flash BMC FW,  IPMI IOL flashing time is quick than KCS

Command Type	HPM upgrade command
IPMI KCS	# ipmitool hpm upgrade <FWA-3260 BMC FW>  force activate
IPMI IOL	# ipmitool.exe -I lanplus -H <BMC IP> -U <BMC user name> -P <BMC password hpm upgrade <FWA-3260 BMC FW> force activate

Method 1: Using IPMI KCS to upgrade BMC FW from 1.02 to 1.10

PS: FWA-3260 BMC code was the older version, please don't add -z (buffer) during the IPMI KCS  

# ipmitool hpm upgrade namb3260_bmc_standard_1.10.img force activate

Method 2: Using IPMI IOL upgrades BMC FW from 1.02 to 1.10, user needs to set IPMI LAN IP first, and we recommend user choosing IOL to upgrade FWA-3260 BMC & BIOS FW, IOL FW upgrades faster than KCS

# ipmitool.exe -I lanplus -H 172.17.21.97 -U administrator -P advantech hpm upgrade namb3260_bmc_standard_1.10.img force activate
