1. Purpose:
Installation of centos8.x through the serial port on FWA-1212VC/1112VC/1012VC will be stuck on “processing” while seeking for the installation source. Therefore, the installation can’t be proceeded.
This articles guides you on how to workaround this problem.
2. Audience:
All users owning FWA-1212VC/1112VC/1012VC platforms.
3. Procedures:
a- Use Rufus tool to render the USB drive bootable with the centos image under windows system.
b- In the windows system, connect to the FWA-1212VC via its serial console port using putty tool:
c- Power on the FWA-1212VC device, press the notebook DEL key to enter the FWA-1212VC device BIOS settings -> “Post & Boot”-> CSM support-> Video as Do not launch; U disk is the first startup item, and save and restart:
d- Set the USB drive media as first boot device, save and restart
e- After entering the installation interface, press the UP key and then the TAB key and press ‘e’ to modifie this line: “vmlinuz initrd.img inst.stage2=hd:LABEL=centOS\x207\x20x86_64 rd.live.check quiet”to: “vmlinuz initrd.img linux dd console=ttyS0,115200n8”. Then, press the Enter key after modification.
f- Next, you will see a list showing sda1 sda2 ...etc. Note that there will be the following information about centos 8.3, kindly save it somewhere:
g- Restart the the device, press the UP key and then the TAB key after entering the installation interface; replace “vmlinuzinitrd.imginst.stage2=hd:LABEL=centOS\x207\x20x86_64rd.live.check quiet” by “vmlinuz initrd.img inst.stage2=hd:/dev/sda console=ttyS0,115200n8”
h- After modification, press Enter to complete the subsequent installation. For subsequent system installation, please refer to "How to install CentOS 7 by console redirection.pdf".
